Delete your JRNL account

Updated September 9, 2026

You can permanently delete your JRNL account from the Account screen in the app. Your local journal entries stay on this device after the account is removed.

Important notes

  • Local journal stays: Deleting your account removes the cloud account. Journal data already on this device remains local.
  • Cannot be undone: After you confirm, the account cannot be restored. Create a new account later if you need account features again.
  • Export first if needed: In Settings → Data, use Export JSON before deleting if you want a file backup of local thoughts and entries.
  • Shortcut: You can also open Account from the profile icon on the journal screen, then scroll to Delete account.
